Marianist Student Communities

For several years the Office of the Rector with cooperation from Campus Ministry has provided housing for students interested in exploring the Marianist charism, and who are committed to building and being community in the student neighborhood. These communities use Mary as their model to form houses of Marianist hospitality.

Mission Statement for the Marianist Student Communities:

Inspired by the Marianist Charism of bringing the Gospel message of Jesus to our world, we pledge to live together and be a witness of Christian community to the students in our neighborhood. We strive to incorporate the Marianist Charism and the University’s documents on Community Living and Diversity into our everyday lives.

Community members are committed to:

  • Respecting one another
  • Being a praying community, coming together two or three times a week for prayer
  • Having at least three meals together each week
  • Being a house of hospitality for other students to come weekly to pray and share meals.
  • Being involved in Campus Ministry or Office of the Rector programs or activities
  • Developing a relationship with the Neighborhood Fellow and participating in those programs
  • Following the rules and regulations in the University Student handbook concerning gatherings and/or parties and the use of alcohol
  • Seeking to develop servant leadership skills
  • Striving to be a living witness of the Marianist spirit
  • Participating and initiating Catholic and Marianist activities on  campus
  • Writing a Community Covenant based on the Marianist Spirit
  • Attending Marianist formation meetings (two a semester)
  • Meeting regularly with a Marianist mentor
