2008-2009 Application Here Associates are asked to attend a four day introductory retreat. That retreat will be followed by the Marianist Universities Meeting. This annual event joins the three Marianist sponsored universities in various mission oriented conversations. These two events will be a good introduction to the program. What are the practical demands of the program? As soon as the associates have been identified, they are gathered for one or two introductory sessions so that they can meet and know their fellow journeyers. Associates are asked to commit to a one year initiation program. At the conclusion of that year, they will then be invited to make a public commitment to sustain and enrich the Catholic and Marianist character of the University of Dayton. Each
semester Associates will gather regularly for meetings in which they are
asked to discuss selected articles or books that pertain to Marianist and
Catholic higher education traditions. The Associates are encouraged to
choose a mentor. There is a rich resource of men and women among the
vowed Marianists brothers, sisters, priests, and lay members. It will be
important for them to have someone who will walk with them throughout the year. Marianist Educational Associates are a community of lay leaders, faculty, staff and administrators, recognized within the institution as vital partners who steward Marianist and Catholic values and traditions. Our purpose is to strengthen and develop the Marianist mission of the University by learning, being witness to the vision and welcoming challenges as opportunities to adapt and transform the University community. As people of hope, we strive to preserve and advance the Marianist charism through the institution, and ensure that this foundation remains integral to the future of the University.
