Marianists are involved in a variety of ministries and our gift to the Church, the Marianist Charism, is for all people, both lay and religious. At the core of our charism is Mary. Our dedication to Mary is modeled on Jesus' love for his mother, whom he gave to us. Mary is a model for us as ... a person of faith; one who ponders God's ways; a person for others; a person who leads others to faith in Jesus; and a person who gathered in community and prayed with others. Those working alongside Marianists and interested in the spirit are usually people who are associated with institutions owned or staffed by Marianists. Within retreat centers, parishes, schools, social service agencies, etc. persons come to know the Marianists there and are attracted to and curious about their spirituality. They may then begin to study, pray, and come to define themselves as Marianist as they identify with the particular approach the Marianists take toward the work in which they are mutually occupied. Sometimes these people gather together in an organized fashion
to promote the Marianist spirit and collaborate in the work in that context, or
the association may be loosely structured, with the bond maintained through
one-to-one relationships and occasional gatherings with others in the Marianist
Family.
